Billing

Every plan includes a monthly naira API credit. Usage draws that credit first, then the school service wallet. Test calls are free.

Open to every school

The API is open to every school on Klasstack, on every plan. It is not an enterprise add-on and there is no separate API contract to sign before you start building. Klasstack rolls the platform out with a release flag, so if the API is not switched on for your school yet, calls answer 503 platform_unavailable and you can still build against test keys in the meantime.

How a call is paid for

  • Each exposed endpoint has a per-call charge, set by Klasstack. Some endpoints are free, at zero naira.
  • Your plan includes a monthly naira API credit. Every successful live call draws that credit down first.
  • When the credit for the month is used up, calls draw on the school service wallet, the same wallet that funds SMS and other platform services.
  • Only successful calls are charged. A refusal costs nothing.
  • A power service, such as messaging or an AI call, costs its normal in-app rate plus the endpoint request charge. There is one price sheet across the product.

meta.cost on every response

Every successful live response reports what it charged, in naira, as meta.cost. There is no hidden total and nothing to reconcile after the fact: the number you were charged is in the response you were charged for. On a test key meta.cost is zero.

Test calls are free

A ks_test_ key answers from the documented example. Nothing runs, nothing is written and nothing is charged. Build and test the whole integration on test keys at no cost, then switch to a live key when the school is KYC approved and an admin puts the app live.

What a 402 means

A 402 insufficient_balance means the monthly credit is spent and the service wallet cannot cover the next call. Top the wallet up, or wait for the credit to refresh next month, and the same request will succeed. Your school never goes negative: Klasstack absorbs the small overrun a race can cause rather than carrying arrears against you.

How charges appear

Usage is metered per call and settled against the wallet in batches, hourly or once it reaches one thousand naira, whichever comes first. Each settlement is its own wallet transaction, so the charge is visible in the wallet history and in the billing tab of the Developer section alongside the credit left for the month.
